Longton started quicker, scoring an early try. Leek responded with some powerful runs to get into the Longton 22.

Leek openside flanker and forwards player of the match Louis, ripped through a number of tackles to score a try. He then kicked the conversion to give Leek the lead 7-5.

Longton then scored another, showing great pace out wide and converting to make the score 7-12

Leek came straight back, quick and powerful rucking allowed the ball to be passed to inside centre Ben who took the ball at speed on the Longton 22, and crashed through a number of tacklers to score under the posts.

Louis converted to make the score 14-12.

Longton conceded a penalty in their own half and Leek showed great maturity by choosing to kick the penalty. Louis calmly stepped up to slot the kick. Score 17-12.

Longton ended the first half by scoring a breakaway try and converting to make it 17-19 at halftime.

Leek had 21 players available, the biggest squad in the teams history, and Coach Julian made 6 changes. The fresh legs made the difference.

Leek scored a try from a 5 metre line out, our huge pack finding a soft edge in the Longton defence, splitting their maul in two, allowing Captain Harry to burst through to score the only try of the 2nd half.

The conversion was missed. Score 22-19 to Leek.

Longton had the ball for the last 10 minutes, constantly on the attack. Outstanding defence kept them out, special mention for Liam and Wilson who didn't miss a tackle. Backs player of the match Neison was outstanding in attack and defence.

Lewis and Morgan made their debuts in the 2nd half and we're rock solid in attack and defence.

The last play of the game was a penalty to Leek, the outstanding forward Louis jackling the ball to eventually end the Longton attack.

This group have had to endure a torrid time, but they have never given up believing. They have stuck with the process, improved all aspects of their game, and now they know how it feels to win and what it takes to win.
