Leek Under 13 girls played their first ever games against Northwich and Burton.
Leek played a very experienced team from Northwich who have won festivals in the past. They had the Cheshire 100 metres champion and another girl was 6'1 I kid you not. Northwich scored 3 early trys as Leek took some time to realise the task in hand. Jenny Hesketh led the way with some crunching tackles and scored super try Northwich scored again and Holly Fryer received an injury making a tackle. She shrugged the injury off by running straight at the Northwich defence and blasting through for a fantastic try. Northwich continued to score but Leek never gave up with Jenny scoring again. Izzy Parry had 2 long range runs for the corner only to be caught just short of the line by their sprinter.
Leek then played Burton who only had one player who was 6 foot. Leek had learnt alot from their first game and Jenny opened the scoring. Melody Dunn was brilliant at scrum half and scored a brilliant long range try(Legend). Jenny scored again for Leek to win 3 trys to 2. Danielle from Congleton played for Leek and was superb. Lottie was a colossus and Grace Challinor was magnificent throughout. The other teams girls we all a year older so this was a great start as a team.
I am a very proud coach and Dad.
