Leek youngsters beat Rugeley in first game on clubhouse pitch

After the 1st XV secured Level 5 status for next season and the 2s racked up 86 points, it was down to the u14s to make it the perfect weekend for the club.

Playing their first ever game on the main clubhouse pitch, the Vikings hosted Rugeley. Leek boasted an impressive 22 players, and all played their part in a 44-20 win.

Winger Neison scored straight from the kick off, showing great speed and dotting down under the posts. Fly half Jamie converted. Forwards player of the match Olly was a threat with ball in hand all game and ran through all would be tacklers to score two quick tries.

Rugeley came back scoring some long range efforts due to some poor tackling by Leek. But the boys in blue regrouped and went on the attack, prop Bob, second row Tom H, and skipper Harry all scoring.

Back row Louis converted Harry’s try with an awsome kick, right out wide on the touch line. He then went on to score two tries of his own. Backs player of the match was fly half Jamie, he controlled the game, dictated the attack, and got the ball wide to utilise the wide channels - his best game of the season.

The u14s continue to have new players joining, and there were three debuts - Zack, James and Joe - who performed brilliantly.

On Saturday, the u14s served at the annual past captains' lunch. It marked a special day as team head coach and former club captain Ian Harris was asked to give the annual speech. A real honour to deliver the speech with his lads attending on the day. Well done to all involved!
