Our 1st XV head to the south of the county renewing acquaintances with old foes Walsall in the semi final of the Staffordshire Cup. Coach Joel Booth is able to rotate a few players and bring in some new faces with fellow coach Andy Appleyard stepping in at 10 and youngsters Oscar Powell and Connor Bassett getting deserved starts in the back row.
There are also likely first team debuts for Arvie Birchall and Harry Byrne from the bench. Oli Powell will also celebrate his 100th competitive 1XV appearance.
Our 3rd XV are holding fort at St Edward’s Park with an earlier than announced kick off of 1:45pm. They welcome Broughton Park and will be looking to make it six home wins on the bounce. Jack Winfield starts at fly half and the 20-strong squad are all Leek Academy products.
The clubhouse will be open from 12:45pm with live Six Nations rugby on the big screens all afternoon.
Before all of that we have our Academy side in action tonight under the lights at Stafford’s AGP pitch.
