South Central Brothers win Fiji tournament in Leek colours

Leek rugby club colours have been flying high in the Pacific paradise island of Fiji, as the South Central Brothers team won the Serua provincial championship wearing the Moorlanders’ blue and white shirts.

Leek have a long-standing arrangement through current and former players Naz Narawa and Kiniviliame Bulitautini for shirts from previous campaigns to be sent to the island.

And the shirts were worn by South Central as they won the Vunivalu Shield, beating provincial rivals Wainiyabia 20–14 in a thrilling game.

The Serua Rugby Union match report noted that South Central displayed resilience, discipline and championship character, reflecting the spirit of the Leek players who had previously worn the shirts and why sponsors such as Altrad and EsterChem choose to support community rugby.

The report went on: “The victory is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and unity shown by the South Central players, coaching staff, management, and loyal supporters throughout the competition”.

South Central player Apete Narogo recently signed for French rugby heavyweights Toulon after success with the Fiji Sevens team.
