Leek forward Oli Powell - still only 21 years old - has been declared Staffordshire rugby's players' player of the year and forward of the year in the end of season awards.
He shared the players' player with Stoke's Jamie Loska, who was also back of the year.
In the players' player citation, the county declared: Oli brought power, consistency and total commitment. Whether it was scrummaging, carrying, tackling, or leading by example, he was everywhere and always gave 100%.
Both players (Powell and Loska) earned the admiration of the squad not just through what they did but how they did it. Two leaders. Two warriors. One shared honour.
And the forward of the year award citation reads: Oli has been immense all season. His selfless efforts and commitment to training set the bar for the squad. Relentless in the contact area and fearless in defence, he consistently put his body on the line. More than just a front-rower, Oli played like an extra back row in open play. A true workhorse who led through actions week after week.
A long season is still not over for the Altrad Park star, as he has been picked in the squad for the North West v North East fixture at Huddersfield next Saturday, 21 June.
Well played Powelly!
