Leek girls led the way as the mini and junior section returned to action after an extended Christmas and bad weather break.
The under 16s Lightning won convincingly at home in the Staffordshire Cup against Stafford, 54-0. A dominant performance from start to finish, with the squad working together superbly and sticking to the game plan throughout. Against a developing opposition, the girls controlled the game and were deserved winners in an impressive cup outing.
The under 14s repeated the dose, beating Stafford 45-25. A slow start kept things tight until half time, but a powerful second-half display saw Leek pull away. Morgan crossed for six tries, Jess impressed in both attack and defence with a try, and Freya added three conversions and a try while being rock solid defensively.
The under 12 girls Vixens kicked off 2026 with a trip to Ilkeston for a three-way fixture against Ilkeston and Market Bosworth. Strong opposition, but plenty of determination, teamwork and fight shown throughout. A positive start to the year with lots to build on.
Our under 11s Hawks were involved in a very competitive and physical contest against Ashbourne to open their 2026 campaign. Both teams played some excellent rugby and set the tone for the year ahead.
The under 14 boys Claws narrowly lost a fast, physical game to Macclesfield, played in tough conditions. The Claws defended superbly, absorbed pressure and threatened on turnover ball. Despite late pressure and strong forward play, the score didn’t quite go our way. A performance full of grit, character and commitment.
A fantastic way to start 2026 for our minis and Juniors with great effort, great rugby and great club spirit on show.
