Leek's new women's team made a winning start to their Inner Warrior Series games with victory in a three-way match against Eccleshall and Shrewsbury.

They defeated the hosts 33-0 in a 40-minute match, and followed that up with a 26-0 win over Shrewsbury.

There was some fantastic rugby on display, with great pod work, strong running lines and amazing phases of play throughout both game. A few of our women even stepped in for the match between Shrewsbury and Eccleshall, getting themselves on the scoresheet too!

Abby Taaffe led the scoring with four tries and seven conversions, Charlotte Leedham and Maddie Knight each claimed three, skipper Sammy Cooper claimed a brace and there was a try each for Jess Burton and player of the match Tia Higgins.

A great start for the Leek lasses in their IWS campaign, a competition for local newly-formed women's rugby teams.
