Key roles to fill at AGM

The club still has a few key roles to fill ahead of the upcoming annual general meeting on Tuesday, 7 July at 8pm.

Many club volunteers are happy to continue in their roles, but as a membership organisation, the club always needs extra willing hands to help.

There are a number of changes planned at this year's meeting. With club president John McDermott stepping down, current chair Marcus Midwinter is being proposed as new club president, with Steve Mellor moving from treasurer to chair. Senior player Elliot Anderson, an accountant, is being put forward as new club treasurer.

As his children are now older, Richard Mounsey has stepped down as chair of mini and junior rugby and is standing as club vice chair. Richard Walley is proposed as the new chair of junior rugby, with Stephen Clancy as his deputy.

Paul Fox is standing as social secretary and Frances Davies is proposed as inclusion and diversity lead for the club.

But there are three key roles that still need filling -

  • Senior Fixture Secretary – Ian Meakin has indicated that he will be stepping back from the role within the next couple of years. Any member interested in taking on this position will have the opportunity to shadow Ian over a substantial period to ensure a smooth and well-supported transition.
  • Coaching Coordinator – with Stephen Clancy stepping forward to assist as vice chair
  • within the Mini & Junior section, he needs to relinquish this role. He is happy to provide full support and guidance to the incoming post-holder during their first year.
  • Social Media Officer - To coordinate and manage the growing club social media activities with the support of section leaders.

To discuss any of these roles, please contact the club secretary Carol Fryer on 07730 316933 or Marcus Midwinter on 07976 634336.

All of the AGM papers can be found under information/documents/AGM 2026 on the club website.
