Gone for a Burton

Gone for a Burton

Graham Leftwich7 Jan - 16:55

1s, 2s and Academy in action against county rivals, 3s at Crewe

Rugby is back as we kick off the new year with a big Saturday of fixtures against Burton home and away.

Leek 1st XV, sitting pretty in fifth place in Regional 1 North West as we start the 2026 programme, travel to Battlestead Croft looking to avenge their week four home defeat to their county rivals, who start the year in third place.

Kick off is at 3pm, but ahead of that there'll be two curtain raisers as the Leek Academy play Burton Colts, with a 12.30 kick off, and the clubs' under 11s squads will also play.

Burton 2s make the opposite journey to St Edward's Park for a 2.15 kick off. Both sides sit in mid table in Counties 2 Midlands West, having had a competitive but inconsistent first half of the season. The Moorlanders won by a single point in the return fixture last September. The bar and kitchen will be from 1:00pm and there'll be TNT Sports on the big screens.

Finally, our high-flying 3rds make the trip to the Vagrant's Sports Club to take on Crewe & Nantwich 3s in Nowirul 5 East. The lads will be looking to avenge their only home defeat of the season so far as they continue their title-chase.

Whether you’re travelling to Burton or Crewe or heading down to HQ, get out and support the lads as (weather permitting) we start 2026 the right way. Big games, plenty of rugby, and a great club atmosphere as always.
