
A brilliant Sunday at St Edward’s Park as we welcomed Burton cross the mini age groups as part of their tour. Great rugby, great spirit and fantastic to see so many young players enjoying the game in the sunshine. There was also action across the county for our older age groups including a County Final for the under 13 Warriors.
Our under 7s had a fantastic morning with every player giving their all. Coaches were delighted with the progress, teamwork and effort shown by the whole group.
The under 8s Wolves put in a strong showing against Burton with the team putting their defensive skills from training into action and working hard for each other throughout the games.
Leek under 9s enjoyed some excellent, competitive games with Burton and it was great to see the tackling stepping up a level. Top tacklers: Brook (Dragons), Vinnie & Kian (Sharks) and Alfie (Tigers).
Our under 10s Titans played a brilliant match against Burton with the team earning praise from the opposition for their fair play, teamwork and attitude - great credit to the players and coaches.
The under 11 Hawks put in a dominant display against a strong Burton side, showing confidence and physicality throughout the game.
Leek girls under 12 Vixens faced a tough and physical clash with Burton which saw them give everything, producing strong carries, big tackles and relentless work rate from start to finish.
Our under 13s Warriors travelled to Walsall for the Staffordshire U13 Plate final against Stafford. Despite going 20-0 down early, the team showed incredible character to fight back and push all the way in a 40-25 defeat, representing the club with huge pride and determination.
The under 14 girls Lightning achieved an outstanding 84–5 win over Ilkeston, with fantastic teamwork and attacking rugby across the team. Freya was named opposition player of the match while Esme took coaches’ player after another impressive display.
Our under 16 Girls Lightning enjoyed a superb 64–7 win away at Crewe, with the girls growing into the game through strong scrums, confident passing and powerful running to continue their impressive run of results.
