Colts beat Stoke, bonus point for 3s

On a high-scoring Saturday, despite the rain, Leek's Academy team scored four tries and won, while the 3rd XV scored and lost - their first defeat in five matches.

In the lunchtime kick off, skipper Oscar led the way for the Colts with two tries against local rivals Stoke. Leek went ahead with his first, but in a closely contested opening period, Stoke took the lead with a converted try.

The visitors moved ahead after 15 minutes of the second half, but Dylan's try five minutes later levelled things up at 12-12. Stoke went ahead again, but Oscar's second and another from Dominic with ten minutes to go were enough for the Moorlanders to secure a 24-17 win.

The 3s took their away winning streak to Heaton Moor in Stockport. Things started well, with centre Tom Laverick scoring early on. The hosts responded quickly and took the lead 15 minutes in, only for Tom Hughes to narrow the gap with Leek's second try.

Moor scored a quickfire double and threatened to pull away, but Gregor Hayes responded with Leek's third. A penalty for the home side and another try saw them head into the break 36-17 up.

A Leek resurgence looked on in the second period with Hughes scoring his second and Harry Byrne claiming the Moorlanders' fifth, but another penalty for Moor saw them close out an entertaining game 39-29.
