Leek rugby finished on a high as the new women's team scored ten tries in the final competitive action of the season at St Edward's Park.

The 52-0 win was over a scratch Stoke team, who had to call in late replacements including some of the Leek reserves after planned partners Winnington Park pulled out of the fixture earlier in the day.

A bumper crowd under the lights at the start of the holiday weekend saw player of the match Poppy Harris and Grace Chandler both claiming a brace of tries, with Josie Booth, Amy Leftwich, Charlie Davies, Maddie Knight, Abby Taaffe and Charlotte Leedham also scoring.

After single score defeats in their two preparatory training games, the win is a huge boost for Leek women - who were able to name a squad of 22 players despite only coming together last autumn - and sets them up well for the new season.
