Second XV manager and under 6s coach Steve Fryer has hung up his whistle after a long career coaching at Leek.
Our entire mini and junior section gave him a standing ovation to thank him for his services to the club as he steps down from his volunteer roles.
Former Leek player Steve has coached our under 6s for the past 5 years providing an invaluable service to the club as he introduced our youngest players to the game of rugby in his own unique style.
All of the age groups he coached are now thriving and many of the players and parents have fond memories of his bull dog runs, parent training involvement and the now famous “Rock Hard” chant.
Steve is also stepping down from his role as manager of the men’s 2XV - including son Jack - helping them to several league and cup wins.
He leaves behind a huge legacy at the club, having also coached our girls team - including daughter Holly - to National Finals, paving the way for what has now become a strong girls section at the club.
We just hope he continues to be able to persuade the Easter Bunny and Santa to visit the club each year now that he’s retired. Thanks for everything Steve - enjoy the golf!
