Club captain Joe Newton-Taylor makes his 100th competitive appearance for Leek as he leads the Moorlanders against Rochdale at St Edward's Park this afternoon.

Following in the footsteps of his dad Pete, Joe began his playing days at leek and progressed through the junior section, making his mark in the 1st team as a young talent.

Joe left the club to pursue other avenues with spells and Leicester Lions and Longton, alongside brother Jack, and went on to represent Leicestershire and Staffordshire at county level before returning home.

Since his return, Joe has started every game he’s appeared in, making the 3 shirt his own. He’s offered a large amount of leadership to the club with his knowledge and experience rubbing off on the younger players.

Joe was announced as club captain for the 2025/26 season, a role he has excelled in as the 1st team achieved their highest league position ever. He continues to lead the side in the 2026/27 season, hoping to replicate the performances from last year and push for promotion.

The Newton-Taylor name is well represented within the club and Joe continues to add to that legacy.

Congratulations Joe - wishing you the best in today’s match against Rochdale.
