It was a morning full of sun and fun at St Edward's Park today as a bumper crowd turned out for the annual Boxing Day fixture!
For the inaugural time the game was played for the Mark “Tiny” Hulme Trophy, an award kindly gifted by his family of Martin following his recent passing. Very much a club man, who was a former 3rd XV captain and player in the 80s, a game featuring the 3s and the Vets would have been right up Tiny's street.
And this year the bragging rights and the trophy went to the 3rd XV whose combination of strong running and kicking were enough to overcome a spirited Vets XV, in front of a boisterous Leek rugby crowd.
Congratulations to all those who pulled on a jersey today, it was great to see so many out there, and thank you to Stephen Clancy for reffing.
