Leek won a tight game in the rain at Anselmians, edging the hosts 13-14.
The Moorlanders got off to a quick start with a try from wing Jack Newton-Taylor. Will Midwinter, playing in the centre, added a penalty shortly after to make it 0-8.
The hosts scored a penalty of their own on 20 minutes but, on a wet day on the Wirral, that was it for the first half. After the turnaround, Anselmians scored a converted try to take the lead, only for Leek to edge back in front with another penalty.
As time wound down, a penalty put Anselmians ahead again, only for another Midwinter kick, from 35 metres, to steal it at the death for the boys in blue and white.
