3rds Entertain with a win.

LEEK 3rd XV 46- 27 WARLEY 2nd XV
On Saturday Leek 3rd XV entertained high flying Warley from the West Midlands in what turned out to be a tough but entertaining game of rugby.
It was Leek who put the 1st points on the board when fly half Dixie crossed over to give Leek a well earned 5 points unfortunately stand in Scrum half Toby Caddum scuffed his effort to increase the lead but Leek were in front.
That lead lasted only a matter of 5 mins when Warley reduced that lead to a deficit scoring and then converting there kick to give the visitors a 7 points to 5 lead with barely 10 mins on the clock.
At the time of the meeting Warley 2's were sitting 3rd in the league and Leek 7th, so Leek were under no illusion that this was going to be anything but a tough encounter, And so it transpired. With Leek fielding a mixture of youth and experience they gradually regained the lead and eventually increased it with try's from Clapton Copperwheat and the ever improving Thompson, however Warley were not 3rd on the league by default, and they showed great composure to reduce the lead Leek held over them . With Warley fielding one of Leek's own, veteran Paddy Lawler, it was always a possibility the game could have swung Warley's way so the introduction of speed wizard Dan Sharrat enabled Leek to secure a well earned victory with more try's from Stand in skipper Skinner, 2 try's from Sharrat and steady kicking from Caddum Leek eventually ran out convincing winners.
Capt Hicks said later, " the mixture of youth & experience proved invaluable with the likes of father and son Duane & Liam Robinson at hooker & flanker respectively, and Colts such as Sharrat etc,to put a result against a top 3 side like Warely, we have a very good chance of doing very well in the league. This win is the 5th on the trot, which shows what good form we are now hitting.
Next Saturday Leek have another home game players meet at Ester chem Park @ 12.45.
