Willenhall 3rd XV 88 v 3 Leek Saints

The Saints travelled with only 9 players due to injury's and unavailability's for the away fixture. Willenhall loaned the Saints 2 players making the numbers 12 against 14. From the off the Saints took the game to Willenhall despite the disadvantage in numbers some good breaks from Rob Hicks , John Woolloff and Andy Humphreys produced good ground. The referee awarded the Saints a penalty and the ever accurate Andy Poole was on hand to provide 3 points.

This put the Saints in the lead and lifted their spirits unfortunately this wasn't enough to cope with the overlap of players as Willenhall stepped up a gear and used there extra players to their advantage. Unfortunately this was the story for the rest of the match all the Saints could do was defend their line and despite the pressure some good tackles were put in from Chris Rance , Andy Thompson , Matt Potts and young Colt player DJ.

The Saints Captain Matt Leather said that even though we were out numbered in the match full credit goes to the players that travelled down and gave Willenhall a game.
