Burton then came back with a try and conversion which seemingly set the match up to be well contested.
LL rallied with a flurry of tries from Maddie, Tink and Beth. Katy seemed to find her rhythm with kicking to make sure two conversions were on target.
With the score at 7-22. Burton began to fight back and the girls had to dig deep defensively. Strong carries from Josie, Millie and Maddy were encouraging. LL lost a bit shape in defence and allowed Burton to score three runaway tries and the score was now 24-22 to the home team. The match was on
Just before half time a stunning run by Eva down the wing and a solid conversion meant LL went in to half time 24-29 in the lead.
The second half saw a breakaway try from Tink and Bethan for LL with solid conversions from Katy. Score was soon 24-36 to LL. Injury to Josie meant LL were one player less. Burton took one player off to even up teams
With LL working hard to turn over the ball the tide was beginning to turn but not before a late flurry from Burton passing out to the wing from a solid scrum saw a converted try bring the score to 31-36.
At this point LL kept their heads and tried to pass out wide to open up for some effective forward play. Beth was able to run in the final two tries of her 5 try haul.
All girls played well and although there are areas still to work on this was a solid competitive match and a welcome win.
Final score 31-48
