Leek welcomed our friends from Ellesmere Port for our usual close encounter. In the last few matches, the game has been won by a single score and this game was no exception.
Leek started strongly and fine passing by the backs put Dunny in with a chance to score. She cleverly moved inside and the recycled ball came to Leah to crash over. The game was then mainly played in the centre of the pitch with both sides unable to make significant yardage until a rare mistake by Leek allowed EP to score. Leek hit back with good game pressure allowing Morgan to out sprint EP to score. More pressure produced an overlap for Grace to score in the corner. As half time approached Leek were pinned in their own 22 and had 2 players yellow carded and a penalty try awarded against them HT 15-12.
The conditions worsened in the 2nd half resulting in poor handling from both sides. EP had a full 5 mins on Leek's 5 metre line but the girls produced outstanding defence to keep EP out. The game then moved back to an even keel and was halted with 7 mins to go after a sickening clash of heads from 2 EP players. Both are now well!!
