Leek welcomed Stafford for the first pool cup game. Stafford only started as a girls team last year and it was their first game as an Under 18's team. Leek started quickly(for a change) and quickly scored 3 trys converting 2. Stafford then found their feet and put together some good phases of their own and tackled anything that moved. We played some superb phased ball allowing the backs to work overlaps which were clinically delivered. We kept the scoreboard moving at regular intervals but Stafford kept coming back at us to keep the game competitive.
Sometimes the score does not matter. It is all about both teams enjoying their rugby and the parents and crowd appreciating the hard work the girls put in. Well done to Stafford, and with more games under their belt will prove very difficult to beat. Thanks to Cooky and all from Stafford enabling rugby to be the real winner.
