Leek welcomed Ellesmere in a hastily arranged game. (well done Chris). The Leek coaches knew what a strong side Ellesmere are and did not expect a close game. How wrong we were. From the off we put Ellesmere under pressure and after numerous phases Jenny outpaced their defence to score in the corner for the first of her two trys. Ellesmere came straight back and scored 2 fine converted trys. Kyra smashed over from close range with Ellesmere unable to stop the constant attacks converted by Holly. Ellesmere then stretched their lead just before half time with a converted try. Our girls were in no mood to lose the game and a fine try by Holly which she converted and a brilliant 50 score by Millie Hall saw us retake the lead 24-21. We were making the correct changes as per the RFU directive which resulted in us loosing our shape and Ellesmere scored twice to win 31-24. This was a great advert for Under 18 girls rugby with 2 sides playing hard, fair rugby of high quality. We are meeting Ellesmere again this Sunday. Cannot wait.
