Leek Under 15 girls progress to the Area 5 semi finals

Leek welcomed Widnes for our quarter final match. Steve Mellor took the warm up and the girls were up for a tough match. Leek opened the scoring with classic draw and pass along the line for both Abby and Millie to score. Holly converted both but Widnes came back for their fly half to score the first of her four trys. Widnes scored again for a HT score of 14-12. Morgan quickly scored her usual barmstorming try and later did the same. Millie scored another long range try showing great pace. Widnes kept chipping away and the scores were always close. This was a tough match with the girls coming back from illness and lack of game time and practise. The most pleasing thing for me was the character showed by the girls. It is quite easy to loose matches like this but the tackling showed how much the girls wanted it. Well done to both teams for super game of rugby
