Great team performance led by Captain Jenny

Leek travelled to Tamworth to play a strong team. Tamworth have many county players in both the first team and the development team so Leek knew they were in for a tough match. Dunny was unavailable and Nick Hodgson came up with a brilliant idea to put Jenny at scrum half. From start to finish she ran the game as a class scrum half should do. This gave Holly more time to develop outside play. All the backs saw plenty of ball and used it to the full. Holly scored after 20 seconds to put a marker down. Superb defensive back line pressure saw Ella rip the ball to score. Leek were dominating all sections of the game With the scrum outstanding. Props Keira, Abby and Maddie worked their socks off with Ava dominating her opposite number. Lottie had her best ever game with Sammy and Kara winning ball at will. Our back row was outstanding with Katie doing all the dirty work a star blindside does with Ella winning class ruck ball giving Danielle to run amock with the ball. Holly scored her second with a double sidestep to score in the corner. Shannon played full back for the first time. I feel sorry for Shannon because she is such an all round player she does not get to make a position her own. She scored a great try coming into the line and it looks like she will make this her position . India never missed a tackle all day and finally got the chance to show her pace. She got close to scoring 3 times but to be stopped by some brilliant Tamworth defence. Tamworth brought on their more experienced players at half time and this evened the game up. The class Tamworth number 8 scored twice with Leek scoring through Holly and a brace from Jenny for the final score of 12-37. Grace had another stormer in the centre with Molly starting to show good form after her long injury. The only girl I have not mentioned is Morgan. I all my years of coaching I have never seen a better tackler. Add to that her attacking abilities, you end up with one hell of a player. Girls, I asked for a reaction from the Burton game and you gave it back in spades. Well done to all and thank you to Tamworth for their part in a very entertaining afternoon of girls rugby.
