Great start for Under 15 girls

Burton U15 girls 10. Leek U15 Girls 25

Leek U15 girls had a successful first outing for the season, at Burton, in
their first full team format.

A strong all round performance from the Leek girls with the newly formed
pack winning a great share of the ball and playing some great phased rugby.
Abley led from the front by new pack leader, Danielle, the front row of
Abbey, Ava, and Kiera imposed themselves on the opposition. Lottie and
Sammy provided the extra grunt to make a terrific front 5 with some great
charging runs and superb tackling. The back row of Ella, Katy and Danielle
won lots of ball and ensured the Leek backs had plenty of ball to play
with.

Mel had a 'stormer' at scrum half, not only keeping the opposition guessing
where the ball was going but keeping Burton under pressure when they had
the ball.

Holly scored a fantastic try down the left wing and also set up several
others with some great drawing and passing to the 2 centres Jenny and Izzy
Molly and Abbey had some great runs on the wing and Grace was solid at full
Back, scoring another of Leek's tries with a blistering run through several
defenders and down the wing.

The tackling from the whole team was excellent and at times turned defence
into attack with Burton pushed back towards their own try line when they
had the ball.

Well deserved man of the match went to Mel and Jenny who didn't stop
running all game.

The girls enjoyed the full team format and after the first 15 minutes
settled into their new positions and started to play as a team where each
of them understood their roles. All the tries came from our super fast
backs that Burton just could not compete with.

Tries scored by Izzy (2), Holly, Jenny, and Grace.

Plenty to work on in training, but an excellent start to the season against
Burton, who were well drilled up front and gave the team a real test.
